Why should mothers give importance on feeding their babies aging 0-6 months? Well, this is the development period where in the infant is given the proper nutrition.

How and what to feed 0-6 months baby are the main concern of mothers with first born babies. Mothers will decide the best suitable method that will both benefit her and the baby.

Start a beautiful relationship with your babies through the breast-feeding method. Breast milk is the best suitable milk for infants from 0-6 months because it is free from contamination and supplies nutrients to the infant in almost correct amount and proposition provided that the mother is eating a healthy diet. The health of the baby can be harmed if drugs, alcohol and smoking are present around infants and while breastfeeding.

8 to 12 times per day every 2 to 4 hours is the required amount of breastfeeding for newborn babies, if in case the baby does not start taking breast milk then the mothers could feed their babies by extracting the milk from their breast. The amount could be reduces to 4 to 6 times per day as the baby reaches four months old then the feeding finally decreases as the baby gets older.

If breastfeeding problem occurs and it is not advisable for babies to take breast milk, fortified formula milk through bottle feeding can be supplemented. Different fortified formula milk is available but the intake should be given due proper care according to your baby’s body reaction.

When to start giving solid foods to your infants? The baby wakes up during the night or looking for more food after a full breastfeed and if he has good control of head and neck are indications that the baby is ready for solids. Solid food could be introduced to infants aging 4 to 6 months old, the experts recommends. Solid food can be delayed up to six months if there is a history of food allergy and if the baby is satisfied with the breastfeeding method.

Iron-fortified baby cereals, ragi powder, suji(sooji, semolina), and raw plantain powder cooked in milk, mashed fruits (apple, pear, banana or avocado), and mashed vegetables (pumpkin, potato, carrot or zucchini) soups are the recommended solid foods when the infant reaches 4-6 months old.
As the baby grows, breast milks and formula milk cannot anymore meet their energy requirement, their natural iron stores begins to decline and chewing develops the muscles required for speech so it advisable for mothers not to delay solid food past six months.

Start with 1 teaspoon of cereal once per after day after breast or bottle feed during his first week. 2 feeds per day after breast or bottle feed on his second week then you can add pureed fruits to the cereal for one feed and the other feed only cereal on his third week and finally on the forth week add pureed vegetables as a third meal per day.
